Schools Enrichment: ADT Teach

ADT Teach is spearheaded by ADT Security and South African Education and Environment Project (SAEP) and takes township school learners with little or no experience or access to computers and provides them with quality IT training. After a successful launch in the Western Cape in 2009, SEF is assisting with the further expansion into schools in Gauteng in Ivory Park.

The ADT Teach educational unit is staffed by two highly qualified tutors and comprises a dedicated ADT Teach vehicle equipped with: 15 laptops, internet connectivity, a projector and teaching material. The unit arrives at schools on allocated days during the week and brings IT skills directly to the selected group of learners.

The goal of the programme is to assist learners in progressing from beginner to advanced levels of computer competency by the completion of the three year process. Through this programme the participating learners are not only more employable once they leave school but they are also equipped with the knowledge and skills for further tertiary education.

No. of learners on Gauteng programme: 275 learners

Participating schools: Tsosoloso Ya Afrika, Umqhele Secondary, Allanridge Combined.
